Our read

Applicant tracking is one of the oldest categories we track. Resumix was automating resumes in 1988, the term went mainstream in the late 1990s, and G2 now lists 431 products. That's as crowded as any category we track, and the name is still in flux: 'talent acquisition suite,' 'recruiting software' and 'hiring platform' all compete with ATS. Workday entered in 2014, with consolidation as SAP bought SmartRecruiters and Workday bought Paradox. The legacy players are rigid workflows built for compliance. Agentic AI is the other end of the spectrum: pushing into sourcing, screening and scheduling. We've audited nine companies here.
